Department: Blackburn Rovers Girls Regional Talent Club
Based at: Accrington & Rossendale College, however flexibility on location may be required.
Reports to: Technical Director
Responsible for: N/A
Hours of work: A minimum of 6 hours per week plus matchdays during the days/times below.
Monday’s – 6-9:00pm
Wednesday’s – 6-9:00pm
Sunday Matchday – times may vary depending on location.
Contractual status: Permanent
1. Job purpose: To be responsible for the Sports Science programme for Blackburn Rovers Girls’
RTC – under 14’s and under 16’s. To also ensure the programme is regularly
reviewed and fitness testing results are completed and issued to the Head Coach of each age group.
2. Duties and
Work according to Blackburn Rovers Girls RTC philosophy and values.
Sports Science provision to all the age groups of the RTC, under the
instructions of the Technical Director;
Implementation and delivery of the fitness testing, programming and delivery of Individual Learning Plans for the different age groups;
Keep records of all players’ data, training routines and any other
information related to the different age group training and development;
Take RPE after every under 16s training session and game and work with
coaching staff to ensure optimum performance is achieved as often as
Conduct wellbeing questions to 14s /16s with the players every training
session and report to appropriate members of staff so training can be
tailored to meet individual player’s needs;
Keep a record of player’s minutes throughout each game in the under 16s
and any players that fall short of 40 minutes’ game time take part in a
blowout session after each game;
Devise a structured warm up and cool down for the RTC, adapt according to age group. Make sure staff are aware if the warm up structure;
Lead the first part of the u14s or u16s warm up;
Advise players on hydration and monitor this throughout training and
Make sure subs are kept warm and mobile throughout the game / use
resistance bands for activation;
Conduct fitness testing 3 times per season with all age groups and produce relevant training plans for all players;
Deliver Strength and Conditioning sessions to the under 18s in accordance with the weekly plan for the players;
Deliver Specific football fitness related sessions;
Deliver workshops to players and parents on diet and nutrition ensuring
players have a full understanding of the dietary requirements of a
professional footballer; and
Be pro-active in your own learning and development, attend ladies’ sessions to work alongside Ladies first team strength and conditioning coach.
3. Skills required: The welfare of players within their designated age group;
Ability to work with Elite female footballers;
Ability to work to deadlines;
Ability to be adaptable when needed; and
Motivate the players to perform.
Knowledge and understanding of working with young female players;
Ability to work in a team environment; and
Understanding of the FA Girls’ England Talent Pathway.
Degree or Equivalent in Sport Science related area;
FA Emergency Aid Certificate; and
FA Coaches Licence
