The ideal candidate will have comprehensive, relevant safeguarding experience within a DSO role working in industry where safeguarding is key such as Sport, Education, Emergency Services or Social Care
Bristol City are part of Bristol Sport:a group of companies which promotes access to professional sport and participation in sport across all age and capability ranges. Affiliated clubs include Bristol Bears Rugby Club, Bristol Flyers Basketball, Bristol City Women’s Football, Bristol Ladies Rugby. We work within the community with Bristol City Community Trust, Bristol Sport Foundation and Bristol Bears Rugby Foundation and our events business, Ashton Gate Stadium, is expanding rapidly.
We have experienced DSOs within the businesses and an active and informed Senior Safeguarding Officer – now we need a Senior DSO to work with the SSO co-ordinating policy and practices across all group companies.
Your Main Responsibilities:
Be the primary point of contact for EFL, FA, local authority and the Police
Maintain and enhance links with local support agencies
Promote and maintain a safeguarding culture
Ensure all information is held on the SCR in line with Data Protection Legislation
Co-ordinate regular communication between group company or departmental DSOs
Understand EFL safeguarding requirements, disseminate to, and where appropriate, implement within BCFC/AGL/BSL/Academy/Trust/Flyers/Bears
Ensure that all staff understand the reporting and referring mechanisms for complaints in line with policy guidance advised by the EFL and FA
Be aware of any concerns in any company or department and reports or ensures the relevant DSO refers allegations or cases of suspected abuse to the relevant agencies
Contribute to inter-agency assessments
Escalate appropriate concerns/update/information to the SSO
You will have:
Held a position of authority in education, social services or similar
Be fully conversant with safeguarding and equality legislation
Worked in an influential role in an environment dedicated to safeguarding children and vulnerable adults
Strong influencing and communication skills
Ability to disseminate information and delegate
