This is both a strategic and operational role, taking the lead on data architecture, management, development and maintenance, and related internal and external data sets. You will be working across all departments and stakeholders to ensure databases are effectively integrated within the business, and to ultimately ensure the Club’s data footprint continuously evolves.

Your qualifications and experience will equip you to be able to extract, transform and load large data sets with ease, with exceptional communication and presentation skills that will convey the data to stakeholders clearly and effectively to meet their needs.

Key responsibilities:

Responsible for architecting, integrating and maintaining all databases and services to ensure data integrity and accessibility is of a high standard at all times.
Understand the importance of the CIA triad with respect to both customer and employee data.
To ensure an ongoing open data architecture evolves with the changing needs of the Club and Analysis Teams.
To constantly innovate and ‘think outside of the box’ on ideas to improve the Database, data, and information across the business.
Translate existing data from a wide variety of structured and unstructured sources into usable information for all departments.
Personal characteristics and experience:

Degree or equivalent level qualification in a computing discipline
Experience of working with MSSQLRS, SQL, HIVE, PRESTO, SPARK and AWS Athena
Experience of working with Tableau or PowerBI or custom-built data presentation tools
Experience of working with and integrating third party APIs
Experience of working with AWS Lambda and the supported coding languages (Node.js, Python, C# or Go)
Ability to work with the AWS SDK/Console; specifically, S3, IAM and Cloudwatch
Committed to delivering high standards
Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
To work effectively as part of a team and autonomously
Experience of working within a professional sports environment is advantageous but not essential.
