Working as part of the Sports Medicine and Science team; to be responsible for the physical testing, development and education of the Academy players.

•Plan, deliver and evaluate strength conditioning sessions with the U18s squad and occasionally the U16s

•Oversee and advise the Youth Development and Foundation Phase Lead Coaches upon the appropriate physical development training for these respective age groups

•Plan, deliver and report on the physical testing of all Academy age groups at least 3 times per season as per EPPP guidelines and aligned where appropriate with the Professional Squad’s testing

•Work closely with the Academy Physiotherapist, Academy Sports Therapist and other relevant sports science staff to ensure a multi-disciplinary approach is delivered to all injured Academy players during their rehabilitation

•Work closely with the full-time coaching and sports science staff with the planning of the U18s squads training schedule ensuring the program is multi-disciplinary

•Work closely with the medical staff to ensure relevant physical load information (e.g. RPE) for the U18s squad is collected daily and this information is fed back to the coaching staff in an appropriate reporting format

•Ensure that each Academy player’s physical information is accurately recorded on the PMA system and that these records are up to date

•Look to expand the sports science and medical department’s knowledge by attending appropriate CPD courses and feeding these insights back to the staff

•Look to build on our existing relationships with relevant Universities such as Nottingham Trent University to further expand the academic knowledge available to the Academy
•Other appropriate duties as required by the Academy Manager


•Degree in Sports Science or relevant discipline
•Experience of planning, delivering and evaluating strength conditioning sessions within a team sport


•UKSCA Accreditation
•Post Graduate qualification in relevant discipline
•BASES Accreditation
•Experience of working in a professional football academy
•Clean Driving License


•Recent and relevant experience in a sporting environment
•Experience in working in a team sport
•Valid Safeguarding certificate
•Experience of using the PMA System
•Experience in working under the Elite Player Performance Plan Guidelines (EPPP)
