Job Purpose:
To establish a sustainable system and approach to coach development
within the Academy – Developing coaches so that they can improve and
perform to the best of their abilities and are consequently able to develop
well rounded players, capable of progressing into the Stevenage FC first
team.
Attention to detail and the creation, implementation and evolution of the
existing Academy coaching programme including an in-depth and full
comprehension of the clubs Academy Performance Plan.

Role Responsibilities & Key Duties:
1 Undertake self-development to ensure knowledge in relation to all aspects of coaching and coach development is up-to-date and forward thinking
2 Maintain/Enhance football coaching competence
3 Monitor and evaluate the Academy playing and coaching philosophy
4 Ensure there is a ‘multi-disciplinary’ approach to the coaching staff where departments can blend and work seamlessly together
5 Design and deliver development strategies for coaches based around APP
6 Create a CPD strategy for the coaching staff and deliver sessions according to this
7 Ensure the delivery of the Stevenage FC Coach Competency Framework throughout the club
8 Deliver 1:1 coaching for coaches in order to develop the coach’s skill
9 Observe coaches and provide suitable feedback to coaches and Technical Board
10 Provide an up to date training needs analysis (TNA) for entire Academy staff
11 Build and maintain relationships both inside the club and across football in whole
12 To complete any other duties as deemed reasonable by the Academy Manager

Qualifications Essential:
UEFA A licence
Basic First Aid for Sport
Advanced Youth Award
Safeguarding & Child Protection

Qualifications Desirable:
PTLLS or Teaching Qualification (PGCE, MSc)
FA Licenced Tutor
Sports Coaching/Science or Sports Management Degree

Skills, Knowledge & Experience Essential:
Sound understanding of the role
Experience working across academy age groups IT skills to include the ability to use Performance Management Application (PMA) software and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Power point and Outlook)
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

Skills, Knowledge & Experience Desirable:
Experience working with young professional players
Understanding of the Elite Player Performance Plan (EPPP)
Experience working with elite coaches
